Vivian Schumacher

October 24, 1927 — April 20, 2017

Service for Vivian Emma (Koehler) Schumacher, 89, of Caldwell are set for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Deanville, with Rev. Terry Moon officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 24, 2017 at Stickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. Mrs. Schumacher passed away on April 20, 2017 in Caldwell, Texas.

Vivian was born on October 24, 1927 to Walter Koehler and Minnie (Neimann) Koehler in Big Creek, Texas. She married Walter Schumacher on December 27, 1945 at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Lyons, Texas.

Vivian went to work at the Caldwell Elementary School Cafeteria where she worked for 13 years before retiring and continuing as a homemaker for her family. She and Walter were married for 71 years and lived on a farm in Deanville for 68 of those years. She loved playing with her grandkids and great grandchildren, working with her flowers in her yard and gardening. She liked making jellies and kolaches. Vivian belonged to St. John’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed doing things in church such as teaching Sunday school, bible school and ladies aid. She belonged to Sons of Hermann in Deanville and Deanville Fire Department and worked many years in the bake shop.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Alma Albright, Lillie Mabrey, Nelda Charanza, an infant sister; brothers Alfred Koehler and Rudolf Koehler.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, James Walter Schumacher and wife Debby of Deanville, Bobby Lee Schumacher and wife Bonnie of Deanville; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette Peed and husband Jim of Deanville; grandchildren, Jimann Jones and husband Jeff of Midland, Jamie Brown and husband Dendy of Gause, Jackie Thompson and husband Ray of Deanville; great grandchildren, Madeline Moreno and husband Michael of Deanville, Melody Jones and Travis Gauge of Bryan, Daven Metzroth of Deanville; great, great grandchildren, Gavin Moreno, Harper Moreno, and Thomas Moreno all of Deanville.

Pallbearers will be Glennard Poehls, Harold Dendy Brown, Jeffery S. Jones, Ronald Ray Thompson, Gerald Korth, and Justin Albright, with Daven Metzroth and Michael Moreno as honorary pallbearers.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
