Robert “Chester” Matthews went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 18, 2020 at the age of 59. Born May 4, 1960, in Houston, Texas, he was the youngest of five siblings: George, Cheryl, Richard (Ricky), and Steve. Chester was so loved by his family and truly enjoyed spending time with each and every one of them. He enjoyed gaming and loved to joke and kid around, being a lot of fun to be with! God had truly blessed him especially this past year when he got to see his nephew, Dillon, and teammates win the State Football Championship at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

Chester is survived by his brother, George and wife, Pam; brother, Richard (Ricky); and sister, Cheryl Owens and husband, Robert Earl.

He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews: Robert Jr. and wife Veronica, Courtney and husband Brennan, Meloney, Bethany, Kailyn, Kade, Matthew and wife Jennifer, Stormy, Liam, Lilah, Violet; Shawn and fiancé, Trina; Stacey and husband John, Trey, Dillon, Brandon; Rebekah, Sarah, Hannah and husband Alan, Eliana, Micah, Leah and husband Sam, Samuel, David, Jonathan, Deborah and husband Chris, Micah, and Judah.

Chester is preceded in death by his father, George Matthews, Sr.; his mother, Mary (Stanley) Matthews; his brother, Steven Matthews; and his niece, Dinah Matthews.

Pallbearers will be: Robert Owens, Jr., Shawn Owens, John Lundy, Trey Lundy, Dillon Lundy, and Brandon Lundy.

A Celebration of Life was held at Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville, Texas on Monday, March 23, 2020.
