Severiano Martinez, 77, passed away on January 21, 2021 at his residence in Caldwell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell, TX with Father Melvin Dornak as Officiant the burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  The Family will receive guests from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Caldwell, TX., The Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. also at the funeral home.

Severiano was born on February 21, 1943 in Cucamo, Mexico to Candelario Velez Cerda and Susana Martinez Perez.  On September 4, 1963 he married Domitila Velez Cerda.

Severiano was an honorable, hard-working man who was fully dedicated to his family. He loved his wife and all of his kids. He was always cheerful and enjoyed singing for everyone to hear.  He would love to be remembered as his happy self, always willing to spend time with his family.

Severiano era un hombre honorable y trabajador que estaba completamente dedicado a su familia. Él amaba a su esposa y a sus hijos. Él siempre estaba contento y le encantaba cantar para que todos escucharan. El quiere que lo recuerden siempre como el hombre feliz que era y que siempre le gustaba estar con su familia.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Francisco and Delores Martinez. Daughters and sons-in-law, Magdalena and Juan Monreal, Grace Martinez, Rosario Martinez and Gerardo Palomo, Juanita and Jesus Garcia, Flor and Carlos Moreno, Alma and Sergio de Velazco, Susi and Ruben Jara, Luz Martinez, Maria de la Luz and Victor Montoya, Moni Martinez, and Janeth and Jose Leyva.

Brothers and sisters-in-law Martin and Julia Martinez, Leonardo and Victoria Martinez, Diego and Andrea Martinez, Pedro and Juana Martinez. Sisters and brothers-in-law, Catalina Martinez, Porfiria and Alfonso Martinez, Juana and Andres Martinez.

Grandchildren, Silvina, Juan Jose, Anita and Lisette Monreal; Sergio, Adriana and Arely Aguilar; Luis Felipe, Christian, Estrella and Diego Melendes; Lizbeth and Edwin Garcia; Carlos Daniel, Yahir and Naomi Moreno; Sergio, Yazmin and Lilly de Velazco; Karen and Hanna Jara; Sofia, Diogo and Jacobo Tapia; Tadeo Montoya; Derian and Mateo Martinez; Damian Leyva; and various great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Serving as pallbearers, Francisco Martinez, Christian Melendez, Jose Isidro Leya, Sergio de Velazco, Sergio Aguilar, Jose Lopez, Jesus Garcia, Severo Martinez.
