John "Johnny" Lummus

May 27, 1965 — September 20, 2021

John Lummus, age 56, went to be with his Father in Heaven, surrounded by his family, on September 20, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in College Station, Texas.

John was born May 27, 1965 in Bay City, Texas to Bill and Sonia Lummus.  John grew up in West Columbia, Texas and graduated from Columbia High School in 1983.  John worked on several jobs.  He loved being a truck driver like his uncle and he enjoyed working with heavy equipment.  John moved to Somerville, Texas to help his mother after his dad passed away.  While helping his mother, he also made friends and worked helping others.  He mowed lawns, built pads for mobile homes, worked on driveways and making water tanks for people.  He would help anyone who was in need.

John loved fishing, NASCAR and drag racing and his adorable loving cat, Tilly.

Six years ago, John was struck with liver damage and almost died.  The Lord saw him through this battle and John worked on trying to keep going, but this time the Lord called him home.  The battle was over.

John was a member of Burleson County Cowboy Church in Caldwell, Texas.  He was a devoted Christian.

John was just a big cuddle bear that was dearly loved by many and will be missed by everyone who ever knew him.

John is survived by his daughter, Katie Lummus and her mother, Charlotte Whitehurst of Sweeny, Texas.  Mother, Sonia Lummus of Somerville, Texas.  Sisters, Susan (Gary) Meyer of Oyster Creek, Texas, Tonyia (Everet) Kennemer of Lake Jackson, Texas, brother, David Lummus of Gretna, Louisiana, nieces, Mackinzie (Dan) Hayden, Melissa Lummus, nephews, Michael Lummus and Matthew Lummus and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

John is preceded in death by his father, Bill Lummus, niece, Lindsay Meyer, grandparents, Jonnie and Lota Lummus and Walter and Ethel Hicks, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
