Edward Otto Homeyer was born on July 14, 1926 to Otto and Bertha Homeyer in Caldwell, TX. He married the love of his life, Johnnie Ruth Mrnustik on June 27, 1948 at the Brethren Church in Caldwell.

Edward’s life was centered around his faith and his Heavenly Father. He loved the Lord first and foremost. Upon his graduation from Caldwell High School, he joined the United States Navy. Edward was stationed at a San Diego Air Base in California, serving during World War II. His deployment sent him to Guam and Saipan. He enjoyed his time as a radioman on a World War II torpedo bomber and served his country proudly for four years. At the end of his service, he returned home to his dream of farming. He farmed part time and operated Humble gas station on Highway 36. He was gifted with the ability of woodworking and was employed by Arthur Pape as a carpenter. The final chapter came when he was able to go back to full-time farming. Edward and Johnnie Ruth worked hard together farming, raising chickens, hogs, cattle, and gardening. They enjoyed spending time together working and raising their children and grandchildren. Barney, his son, later joined him in the farming business known as B&E Homeyer. During Edwards life he was a part of the Burleson county fair Association, an honorary American Chapter Farmer, volunteer for the Caldwell Fire Department, senior citizen of the year, member of the New Tabor Brethren Church, and former member of the Elizabeth Lutheran Church.
