Dorothy Woods

Dorothy (Hlavaty) Woods, 82, of Somerville passed away January 24, 2021 in Bryan, TX. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Somerville, TX. The Celebrant will be Father Joven Saavedra, the burial will follow in Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery in Frenstat. The Family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. also Friday.

Dorothy was born September 21, 1938 in Caldwell, Texas to Parents Martin A. Hlavaty and Annie Elizabeth (Pivonka) Hlavaty. Dorothy married the love of her life Floyd Woods December 28, 1974 in Houston, Texas at St. Christopher Catholic Church.

Dorothy enjoyed crafts, sewing especially making fine drapery. Having been older than some of her siblings she was like a second mother to them when they would visit she and Floyd in Houston. When her mothers’ health started to decline Dorothy and Floyd moved to the Caldwell area to care for her. Dorothy was a loving, caring Christian lady that will be missed by all who knew her.

Dorothy was preceded in Death by her Parents, Martin & Annie Hlavaty a brother, Joe Hlavaty, brothers-in-law Richard Shrum, Morris Woods, Julius Woods, and Frank Woods, sisters-in-law Joan Saunders, Sybil Woods, and Winnie Woods.

Dorothy is survived by her loving family, her husband of 46 years Floyd Woods of Caldwell, TX., a daughter Joy Emberton and husband Paul of Austin, TX, siblings, Tony Hlavaty and wife Nelda of Damon, TX., Andrew Hlavaty and wife Jean of Somerville, TX., Martin Hlavaty and wife Leigh of Incline Villiage, NV., Lucy Hodges and husband Tom of Somerville,TX., Delphine Shrum of Sugar Land, TX., and Daniel Hlavaty of Burton, TX., a sister-in-law Edith Woods of Jacinto City, TX., grandchildren; Megan Emberton and husband Duncan Harris of Ann Arbor, MI, Graham Emberton of Stevens Point, WI, and by 2 great grandchildren, Arlo Harris and Oscar Harris both of Ann Arbor, MI. also by numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Ann's Catholic Church in Somerville, TX.,
