Christopher Bruce

September 9, 1976 — February 9, 2022

New Caney, Texas

Christopher Lee Bruce of Houston, Texas past on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at the age of 45. He was born September 9, 1976, in Houston, Texas to Paul Bruce Sr. and Cindy Bruce.

Christopher was a highly decorated Lieutenant with Houston Police Department for 16 years. His thirst for life and learning by far outweighs the average. He graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from The University of Houston, a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Sam Houston State University and was finishing his last class for his master’s degree in leadership management, in which he currently has a 4.0 GPA. Professor George Ackerman responded Christopher’s assignments as “demonstrates a higher level of critical thinking, provides a strategic approach in presenting examples of problem solving or critical thinking, while drawing logical conclusions which are not immediately obvious; provides well supported ideas and reflection with a variety of current and/or world views; presenting a genuine intellectual development of ideas throughout assignments.”

To say that he was an adrenaline junky was an understatement. He was an avid rock climber, sky diver, back country hiker, scuba diver, and mountain biker, to name a few. He enjoyed competing with the HPD Marksmanship Team, traveling the world, and above all spending time with his wife and twins.

Christopher lived his life for his children. He recently quoted “Instead of buying your children all of the things you never had, you should teach them all the things you were never taught. Material wears out but knowledge stays.”  He lived and breathed to give his children every experience he never had. He showed them a world full of adventure and learning. He guided them to be their true selves, to enjoy every minute of every day, and to always remember that despite the hardships of life, they can “conquer the world as long as they have each other”.  His guidance and everlasting love will live on in their minds and in their hearts.

Christopher was known for his quick wit and his contagious, unmistakable laugh. His sarcastic humor uplifted everyone in the room. “I’m not sarcastic, I’m just intelligent beyond your understanding”.

Christopher was proceeded in death by his father, Paul Franklin Bruce Sr. Surviving are his wife of 17 years, Melissa Bruce, his twins, Corbin Lee and Eliana Gray. He is also survived by his mother, Cindy Bruce, brothers, Paul Bruce Jr. and David Bruce; sisters-in-law, Morgan Bruce, Angela Brown, Daron Davenport, Brandy Driggers; brothers-in-law, James Driggers, Justin Driggers, Jason Driggers, Joseph Driggers, Cliff Brown, Robert Davenport; nephews, David Bruce II, James Brown, Tyler Brown, Christopher Brown, Jaxson Driggers, James Price, Jesse Price; nieces, Katln Bruce, Paisley Bruce, Rylan Bruce, Reagan Davenport, Kimberly Brown, Brittany Brown, Carley Driggers, Kadence Driggers, Calista Driggers, Jayleah Driggers, Jane Driggers, Brooke Brown, Celeste Davenport, Claudia Brown; as well as cousins Retired Sgt.
