Valentin Martinez

A Mass of Christian Burial for Valentin Martinez, 84, of Caldwell, is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell, Texas. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. Mr. Martinez passed away at his home on December 23, 2017.

Valentin was born December 17, 1933 to Francisco Martinez and Miceala (Hernandez) Martinez in Chriesman, Texas. He married Dominga (Jimenez) Martinez on April 22, 1961 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell.

He enjoyed watching football, especially his favorite team Texas Tech, riding horses, and playing the guitar and accordion.

Valentin was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Nemesia Martinez; brother, Facundo Martinez; sisters, Tomasa Martinez, Lupe Luna, and Ramona Aguilar.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dominga Martinez of Caldwell; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Martinez Hancock of Houston, Esther & David Pritchard of Pearland, Susan & Mark Wellman of Pearland; brothers, Jose Martinez of Roger, Texas, Ray Martinez of Blair, OK, Juan Martinez of Caldwell; Sisters and brother-in-law, Herminia Martinez of Caldwell, Angela & Ruben Silva of Milano, Mamie Martinez of Caldwell; grandchildren, Heather Hancock, Brittany Pritchard, Kasey Pritchard; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
