Funeral services for Nelda Sue (Dark) Shaw, 89 of Corpus Christi, formerly of Cleveland, Texas is set for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. Interment will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Corpus Christi. Mrs. Shaw passed away September 7, 2020 in Caldwell, Texas.
Sue was born November 4, 1930 to Talmadge DeWitt Dark and Allabelle (Luzader) Dark in Winnfield, Louisiana.
Sue was the owner/operator of a drive-in burger place; Jim’s Broil Burger in Cleveland, Texas for 10 to 12 years. She was school secretary for many years, the church secretary for First Baptist Church in Cleveland and was known for big Thanksgiving meals for her family. She loved to shop for shoes. Sue was “Nanny” to all the grandkids and was a very loving, caring Christian woman.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Shaw; son-in-law, John Ballard and sister Beverly Solley.
She is survived by sons Dale Shaw and wife Elaine of Caldwell, Texas, Marc Shaw and wife Kellan of Tarkington Prairie, Texas, Bruce Shaw and wife Marilyn of Anahuac, Texas; daughter, Jennifer Ballard of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Scott Shaw and wife Brandy, Amanda McAnulty and husband Bobby, Jayme Bonds and husband Jason, Spencer Shaw, Kristie Young and husband Rodney, Kellen Brittain and husband Ryan, Derek Howell and wife Danielle, Lauren Vannatta and husband Kyle; great grandchildren, Ryan Shaw, Austyn McAnulty, Lennon McAnulty, Blayke Bonds, Bree Bonds, Haden Young, Bryce Young, Daxton Vannatta, Ethan Howell, Lanah Howell; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Strickland Funeral Home of Caldwell.
