Stephen B. Wooten, age 75, of Somerville, TX., passed away on August 1, 2023.
A visitation for Stephen will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Strickland Funeral home in Caldwell from 6-8pm, the recitation of the holy rosary begins at 7pm. The Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10am on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the Holy Rosary Catholic church in Frenstat.
Stephen was born in Parsons, Kansas to Helen and Chalens Wooten on November 11, 1947. The Wooten family moved to Houston in 1967 where Stephen attended the University of Houston receiving a Bachelor of Architecture, a BS in Education and a Masters of Education. He worked for Lone Star College System for 33 years, retiring in 2009. After retirement Stephen with his wife Mary, moved to the Somerville home that he had designed and built with help from family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Chalens Gregory Wooten; daughter, Theresa Lynn, and sister –in-law, Diane.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mary Formwalt Wooten; their son Gregory and spouse Christine and Gregory’s son Tyler and his wife; their daughter, Elizabeth and spouse Charllie and children, Madelynn (Flynn), Christina, Jacqueline (Tiye); and their son, Philip and wife Tricia and their children Siena, Philip, Jacob, and Mary. Other survivors his brothers: Mark and his wife Karen and their children Kirsten and Kevin; Sherman and his sons Richard and Nathaniel; and sister, Janis Snow and her husband, Gene, and their children. The extended Wooten and Snow families have always been very close. The Snow nephews were Stephen’s hunting buddies and will be his pall bearers.
