The family joined St. Mark Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas in 1970. The children and Gerald were all baptized there together in 1970 and the children attended school there as well. Stella was involved in many school and church activities and ministries. Her favorite activity was singing in the choir. Stella enjoyed sewing, and even though it became difficult as her arthritis worsened she was able to sew beautiful creations. Stella fought a tremendous battle with multiple cancers, infections, and rheumatoid arthritis and always kept a strong faith and a sparkle in her pretty blue eyes. She was brave and courageous to the bitter end. She was at home when she took Jesus' hand and left this earth peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. In lieu of flowers the family suggest giving a donation to the charity that she was so compassionate about, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7. Rest in Peace, Stella...We shall all see you soon.
