Robert Dean Tucker August 31, 1946 - August 20, 2026, Robert Tucker, 79, of Caldwell, Texas, died on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at home in Burleson County with his loving family by his side.

Visitation is Friday, August 28th from 5 - 7 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell, TX. Funeral services are Saturday, August 29th at 10 a.m. at the Burleson County Cowboy Church. Burial and Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post #4458 and will be at the Masonic Cemetery in Caldwell, TX.

Born in Pasadena, Texas in 1946 to Winston Clyde Tucker and Laura Bynum Tucker. Robert graduated from Glena Park High School in Houston, TX before enlisting in the Marie Corp and fighting in the Vietnam War. Honorably discharged as a Sargent, he returned to Houston and met his wife, Mary Lawson, they married on December 20, 1969.

They moved to Bryan, Texas in 1971 so he could attend Texas A&M University. Robert worked as a Police officer for the Texas A&M University Police Department before joining the Bryan Fire Department in 1973. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology in May 1981. Robert achieved the rank of Deputy Chief before retiring from the Bryan Fire Department with 30 years of service in 2003.

After retiring he enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry, gunsmithing, and working on his classic Mustang.

One of his greatest achievements was being a Papa to his grand and great-grandchildren.

Robert is preceded in death by parents Clyde and Laura Tucker; older brother Clyde Wayne Tucker; brothers-in-law Lynn Lawson, Wilmer Lawson, Tommy Lawson, John Williams, CW Botkin and C. Boudreaux; sisters-in-law Pauline Lawson Langley and Geraldine Lawson Overton.

Robert is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary; daughters: Jennifer, Kathy, Lauree, Kyrie and son-in-law Bubba Hamm. Grandchildren: Ashley Tucker, Ryan Tucker and wife Ana, Leonard “Trey” Hamm, Lance Hamm, and Lyssa Gutierrez; great-grandchildren: Kaiden, Derek and Wyatt Tucker, Colton, Nomine and Wade Ruiz; with one more on the way. Robert is also survived by sisters: Norma Williams, Dollie Williams and Cindy Botkin; brothers: James (Jodie) and Larry (Linda); brother-in-law Robert (Dianne); sisters-in-law Louise Boudreaux, Margaret (Huey) Denman, Linda Lawson, Bertha Lawson. His honorary family: Wayne Neal, Matt Nichols and Joey Ruiz. He is also survived by numerous extended family.
