Obituary for Richard “Rick” Wayne Supak Sr.

Richard “Rick” Wayne Supak Sr. passed away peacefully at his home on July 23, 2026.

Rick was born on October 1, 1954, in Brenham, Texas, to Adolph V. Supak and Juanita Eastep Supak.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph V. Supak and Juanita Eastep Supak; his sister, Sharon; and his father-in-law, Eugene Peterman Sr.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Brenda Peterman Supak; his children, James W. Supak of Houston, Texas; Richard Wayne Supak Jr. and wife Lacey of Aubrey, Texas; Alicia K. Supak and Ronnie Perry of Brenham, Texas; and Joe Raymond Supak and wife April of Rosharon, Texas.

Rick was the proud grandfather of Cindy Phillips and husband Caleb, Izabelle Carroll and husband Nathan, Avary Broussard, Julian Supak, Remi Supak, Sophie Supak, and Sean Hagan and wife Kailey. He was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Kinsley Phillips, Willow Phillips, Houston Hagan, and Quinn Hagan.

He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Lange and husband Donald; his brothers-in-law, John Peterman and wife Shirley, Melvin Peterman and wife Trish, Eugene Peterman Jr. and wife Linda, James Peterman and wife Patsy, and William Peterman and wife Karen; his mother-in-law, Joyce Peterman Ryther, whom he lovingly considered his second mother; his dear family friends, Les and Donna Brayden; his fellow Devil Dog, William Haley; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Rick married the love of his life, Brenda Peterman, on April 19, 1980, in Houston, Texas. Together they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage, raising three children and building a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Rick attended schools in the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District. In 1972, he left high school to begin working as a fitter and welder at General Welding in Houston. In 1977, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Marine Corps. During his 12 years of honorable service, from 1977 to 1989, he attained the rank of Sergeant. He proudly lived by the motto, “Once a Marine, Always a Marine.”

Following his military service, Rick began a career as a professional truck driver. He spent many years traveling across the United States hauling baby chicks and eggs for Hy-Line North America before retiring in 2024.

Rick had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting with his father, his father-in-law, his sons, his grandchildren, and his brothers-in-law. He also treasured time spent fishing with his children and grandchildren. He took great pride in raising a large vegetable garden and generously shared its harvest with family, friends, and neighbors. Whether mowing, clearing brush, or tackling another project, Rick could often be found on his tractor caring for his 15 acres.

He loved drinking cold beer and barbecuing for his family. Rick also enjoyed traveling with Brenda and his mother-in-law, Joyce, sightseeing and trying their luck at casinos. After retiring, he welcomed two faithful companions, Bandit and Roscoe, whose companionship brought him great joy and kept him busy every day.

Rick will be remembered as a hardworking man with a quick wit, a sharp sense of humor, and a touch of sarcasm that could always make those around him laugh. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Marine, and friend who loved his family with all his heart. His strength, generosity, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Funeral services will be held at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville, Texas.
