Rebecca “Becky” Gaas Kubena, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend, was born on June 3, 1965, in Austin, Texas. Her parents, George and Gladys Gaas, brought her home to their family farm in Frenstat. It was there, surrounded by open land and animals, that Becky developed her lifelong love for animals and the simple joys of country life.
At just 16 years old, Becky met the love of her life, Donnie. Their love story began young and lasted a lifetime. They were married on September 18, 1982, and shared 43 wonderful years of marriage built on love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Together they raised two children, Brian and Leah, who were the center of Becky’s world.
Becky dedicated more than 30 years of her career to Texas A&M University, where she worked as a business coordinator. She was known for her strong work ethic, loyalty, and the friendships she built along the way. After retiring, she devoted even more of her time to what she loved most — her family.
Her six grandchildren were her pride and joy. They were truly her world. She never missed a chance to cheer them on at their events, celebrate their milestones, or simply spend time loving on them. Being “MeMe” was her greatest title, and she wore it proudly.
Becky was full of life — a true free spirit who never met a stranger. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome and at home. Her smile was constant, her laugh contagious, and her presence unforgettable. If she wasn’t with her family, you could find her surrounded by friends — often at a slot machine, around a domino table, or enjoying a lively game of bingo. She loved to have fun, celebrate life, and bring people together.
Becky leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and fierce devotion to family. Her warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit will live on in all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Becky was preceded in death by her Parents George & Gladys Gaas, a brother David Gaas, and by her father and mother-in-law Julius & Gloria Kubena.
Becky is survived by her loving husband Donnie Kubena of Deanville, TX., her son, Brian Kubena & wife Diana of Franklin, TX., her daughter, Leah Cass & husband Laramie, a brother-in-law, Darrell Kubena and sister-in-law Georgie Kubena all of Caldwell, TX., and her six grandchildren, Mason Kubena, Aiden Kubena, Rylan Cross, Carli Cross, Tolan Cross and Carter Cass.
