Patsy Ruth (Barron) Blaha, 87, of Bryan passed away July 27, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. Services are set for 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 30, 2018 at the Caldwell Brethren Church, with Rev. Kay Polasek officiating. Interment will follow at Snook Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.
Patsy was born September 25, 1930 in Port Arthur, Texas to William Archie Barron and Myrtle Elizabeth Conrad.
Patsy was a devoted mother to her three daughters, loving and nurturing grandmother to her grandchildren and affectionately known as “Granny Pat” to many others. After graduating Hermann School of Nursing, Houston, Texas, Patsy spent her nursing career as an operating room nurse at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, Texas. She then worked at Caldwell Burleson Memorial as a floor nurse. Patsy spread her love of Jesus Christ to many as a Sunday School Teacher and precept classes counselor with Franklin Graham’s Revival, College Station. Patsy was also a Host Volunteer with Bryan ISD for reading and Christian Sisters with the Caldwell Brethren and BCS Brethren Church. She was a food judge for the Caldwell Kolache Festival. She was the oldest student to be confirmed from the Hus School, New Tabor, Texas.
She was a huge fan of Aggie football. Patsy enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and cross stitch. She was a pilgrim during Emmaus Walk #16. She was member of the Home Extension Service, the Caldwell Brethren Church, the Bryan Brethren Church and on the Board of Teen At Risk, with Kent Caperton. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Johnie Ray Vanderburg; second husband, Billie Blaha; brother, Charles Madison Davis; sister, Wanda Myers; and granddaughter, Monica Ann Frederick.
Patsy is survived by three daughters; Kay Janette & Brad Etter of Conroe, Dorothy Raye Frederick of Bryan, Nancy Gail & David Polasek of Humble; brother, Archie & Diane Barron of Corpus Christi; sisters, Peggy Barron of Greenville, SC, Joy & Johnny Frazier of Montgomery, Margie & Jim Petion of Beaumont; grandchildren, Jeremy Vanderburg, David Polasek, II, Meredith Trevena; great grandchild, Makayla Polasek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David Polasek I, Jeremy Vanderburg, David Polasek, II, Brad Etter, Dean Loehr, and Guy Mason. John Harry Trevena will act as honorary pallbearer.
