Patrick Lee Seymour, 77, of Caldwell, Texas, passed away in his home on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Though we miss him deeply, we are at peace that he is with our Lord and Savior. The family invites you to a public visitation to be held on Monday, August 17th from 5-7 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell, Texas. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 18th at 10 a.m. at Elizabeth Lutheran Church, also in Caldwell, Texas. Interment will follow at New Tabor Cemetery with graveside tribute services officiated by Reverend Doctor Becky Hand.

Patrick Lee Seymour was born on February 15, 1949 to Matthew and Lucille Seymour, in Galveston, Texas. He was the youngest of two children. Pat enjoyed his childhood growing up on Galveston Island with his brother, Matt and many friends. Pat was a proud graduate of Ball High Class of 1967. While in attendance Pat formed numerous friendships that he would cherish for decades. He and his friends were famous for skipping class to go surfing “when the water was just right”. Shortly after graduation, Pat made the decision to join the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served two tours in Vietnam. He served aboard the Navy Destroyer, USS John R. Craig. Pat was extremely proud to have served his country and was honorably discharged in 1974. Upon completion of his time in the Navy, Pat began his career with Southwestern Bell, who later became AT&T. He was eventually transferred to Hearne and while living in Bryan met his wife, Marilyn. Their home was established on family land in New Tabor. They were married on October 14, 1989. This marriage led to the merging of two families with 3 rowdy boys. In fact, at Marilyn and Pat’s wedding, the boys climbed a tree and got covered in stinkbugs and ran into the reception sharing the odor with all the guests. This event was the start of decades of mischief caused by these 3 boys. Pat loved the boys and was usually in the middle of the laughter, even when he knew Marilyn wanted them disciplined. Brent, Brandon and Dustin treasured him as a father and continued to love to spend time with him at the deer lease, golf course and at BBQ cookoffs until he was no longer able to go. He led by example and grew these mischievous boys into great family men. Pat continued his career for over 42 years then entered into retirement on his ranch.

Pat was extremely involved in the community he loved, serving as past president of the Board of Directors of the Burleson County Co-op. He has been an active member of Elizabeth Lutheran Church and was very involved in the Deanville Gun Club. Most recently, Pat became involved in the Burleson County Czech Heritage Museum. The boys teased him because he wasn’t Czech but he never met a kolache he didn’t like. Pat was also very proud to be a Mason, based out of Warren Lodge No. 56 in Caldwell, Texas. He was most passionate about his service to our community through the local V.F.W. Pat was an active member of Campbell-Williams VFW Post 4458 and was especially proud of his role in the honor guard. He was honored to serve fellow veterans and their families. The men and women at the local VFW Post were some of Pat’s most treasured friends.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents Matthew and Lucille Seymour and his beloved brother Matt Seymour.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Marilyn; son Brent Seymour and wife Crystal of Texas City, son Brandon Cedidla and wife Kim of Caldwell, and son Dustin Cedidla and Miranda of Brookshire, Texas. Pat treasured his grandchildren and treated them all with endless love. His grandchildren include Tyler Taylor, Casey Richardson and husband Austin Richardson, Summer Taylor and fiancé Reed Stricklin, Kadie Hartman and Chase Pickett, Jake Cedidla, Maesyn Cedidla, and Harper Cedidla. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Pat also loved his faithful fur baby, Diva. The family will treasure memories of their Dad and Paw Paw.

Honoring Pat as pallbearers are Brent Seymour, Brandon Cedidla, Dustin Cedidla, Matthew John Seymour, Jason Seymour, Carl Letinich, Jason Vykukal, and Thomas Norsworthy. Honorary pallbearers include classmates and friends of Ball High Class of 1967, VFW Honor Guard of Post 4458 and Brothers of Warren Lodge No. 56, long term coworker and friend Sam Kloss, and best friend Eddie Gaas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Elizabeth Lutheran Church, VFW Post 4458, or Burleson County Czech Heritage Museum.
