Services for Norman Delbert Poehl, 77, of Somerville, Texas are set for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Lyons, with Rev. Jacqueline Lamensky and Rev. Darrin Holub officiating. Interment will follow at the Evangelical United Church Cemetery in Birch. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2019 at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. Norman Poehl went home to the Lord on September 29, 2019

Norman was born on September 4, 1942 to Edgar Poehl and Selma (Havemann) Poehl at home in Burleson County, Texas. The family moved to Bryan when he was a young boy and he moved to Houston after college where he made his home until retiring in 2012.

Norman worked hard his whole life picking cotton as a boy and working for Weingarten’s during High School and College, after graduating Texas A & M in 1964 he joined the Army Reserves and later moved to Houston. He married and had 2 daughters, Beth and Becky. Norman worked for Transco Pipeline Company in General Accounting and as a Budget Analyst for the US Court -Pretrial Services until retiring in 2012. He moved to Somerville, reconnecting with family and friends from the old homeplace. He loved his country Church family, dominoes and visiting and feeding the deer, birds and feral cats.

Norman married Patricia Ralph on October 11, 1986 in Houston, Tx and they made their home in Sharpstown, adding a daughter Catherine to the family. He liked all sports, especially the Aggies and his Astros. He was family-oriented and a devout and faithful servant of God. He loved numbers, had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger. He was a selfless and nurturing man who will be greatly missed. He loved Patricia with his whole heart.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Beth and Becky’s mother Lura Geyne Gerlach, his brother, Rudell “Bud” Poehl; and sister, Wandalene Esserman and many loved ones who are no doubt rejoicing with him in heaven.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Poehl of Somerville; daughters and son-in-law, Beth & Thomas Hardisty of Houston, TX, Becky Poehl of Santa Fe, TX, Catherine Poehl of Austin, TX; sister, Lois Poehl-Politz of Caldwell; and his niece Danae, grandchildren, Lura Elayne “Laynie” Hardisty, Benjamin Thomas Hardisty, Garrett Poehl Hardisty; and numerous family and friends.
