Mary Schubert

Mary Schubert, 91, of Caldwell went to be with the Lord on August 11, 2017.

Visitation will begin Sunday, August 13, 5 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. A prayer service will follow visitation at 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be Monday, August 14, 10 a.m. at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Lyons. Interment to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Mary was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also spent much of her time outdoors fishing, raising cattle and baby chicks, watching birds and growing plants. Mary was an active member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Lyons until the day she passed. To know her was to love her, she will truly be missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Rathjen and Nora (Lacina) Rathjen, husband, Eddie August Schubert, brothers, Edward, Andrew and Daniel Ernest Rathjen and sister, Rosie Brinkman.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Linda Novosad and husband Jerry, Elsie Bates and husband James of Lyons, brother, AC Rathjen and wife Annie of Caldwell, sister-in-law, Mary Evelin Schubert of Lyons, five grandchildren, Kyle Novosad and wife Kristy, Dusti Anderson and husband Tim, Jay Bates, Angie Bates, Kacy Tomlin and husband Kyle, eight great-grandchildren, Larry, Michael, Eva and Kinsey Anderson, Mason and Haylle Novosad, Valerie and Hayden Tomlin along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.

Memorials may be directed to Evangelical United Church of Christ Memorial Fund.
