Louis, also called L.C. by his family and close friends, was born July 29, 1922, the son of Louis Clinton Hudson, Sr. and Mary C. (Tuttle) Hudson in Somerville. He attended schools in Somerville and graduated from high school in Temple, Texas. Upon graduation Louis enrolled at the Agriculture and Mechanical College of Texas. He left college to enlist in the Army when the United States entered World War II in 1941. Louis volunteered for service in the 82nd Airborne Division and participated in the Allied Invasion of Normandy in June of 1944 jumping into France in order to secure the town of Sainte-Mère-Église and the Allied Front. Louis served under the leadership of General James M. Gavin, participated in the Battle of the Bulge, and the liberation of the Wöbbelin concentration camp near the city of Ludwigslust, Germany.

Following the war, Louis returned to Somerville and graduated from Texas A&M. On December 26, 1946 Louis and Joanna Rogers were married at the First Methodist Church of Somerville. They were married for 65 years and had three daughters, Kay Lin, Jo Gayle and Sue Ann. Louis became an educator and served schools in Somerville, (where he was also a troop leader for the Boy Scouts of America); Louise, Texas; El Campo, Texas; and Bryan, until his retirement while serving as principal of Stephen F. Austin Middle School. Following retirement Louis served for several years as Bailiff for the Municipal Court in the City of College Station. Along with Joanna, he was an active member of United Methodist churches in all of the communities in which they lived, often serving as Sunday School Superintendent as well as many other ministry leadership positions. He regularly taught Sunday school classes and was faithful in his prayers, presence, gifts and service. Louis and Joanna were members of the Circle Squares Dance Club in Bryan as well as various bridge clubs, and were active in water exercise classes. Many family members, friends, acquaintances and strangers benefitted from Louis’ faithful prayer life as well as his infectious smile and positive spirit.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife and love of his life, with whom he never stopped holding hands, Joanna (Rogers) Hudson, and half-brother, Lloyd Milton Dupree.

Survivors include his children, Kay Lin (Hudson) Mueller and her husband, Ken of Houston, Texas; Jo Gayle Hudson and her wife, Stephanie of Dallas, Texas; and Sue Ann Hudson of Somerville; sister-in-law, Pasty (Rogers Gipson) Brantley of Somerville and brother-in-law Joe Rogers and his wife Janice (Lewis) of Tyler, Texas; along with grandchildren, Hudson Mueller and wife Carolina Blomberg of New York, New York; Jane (Mueller) Taylor and husband Will of Houston, Texas; Sydney Hudson of Dallas; Derek Anderson and wife, Shea of Sandy, Utah; and Dylan Anderson of Sandy; and great-grandchildren, William Hudson Taylor of Houston and Jackson Anderson of Sandy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; and close friend, Edith Peterson.
