Johnny Welch, Jr.

Johnny Luther Welch, Jr., 54, passed away peacefully in his Somerville home on Thursday, April 25th. A private interment will be held at Chriesman Cemetery. The Celebration of John’s Life will be Tuesday, May the 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Lone Oak Baptist Church, in Snook, TX, with Rev. James Hooper officiating.

Johnny was born on Friday, August 21st, 1964, to Delores and Johnny Welch, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Bryan, Texas. He was raised in Snook- to include Chance Farm and Texas A&M Plantation. Johnny was a lifelong Burleson County resident. He was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church where he made a profession of faith on August 15, 1974. Johnny spent most of his adult life as a truck driver. He loved hunting and fishing, driving his red Peterbilt, and cherished his time with family and friends. He was big in heart, never met a stranger and always willing to help. His bear hugs will be greatly missed.

Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Luther Welch, his paternal grandparents, Albert and Lola Welch, and his maternal grandparents, Willie and Maudie Franks.

He is survived by his sons Matthew and Luke, his mother Delores and husband Charles David, brother David and his wife Carla Welch, sister Tammy and husband Eddie Hodges, his nieces and nephews- Bryan and wife Reighna Welch, Victoria, and Alexander Welch, Sullivan, Madison and Whitney Hodges, great niece and nephew Londyn and Hunter Welch and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
