John Hopkins

John William Hopkins, 88, of Somerville went to his heavenly home on Thursday, November 16. Visitation will be at First Baptist Church in Somerville, Monday, November 20, from 10 a.m. until service starts at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Restwood Memorial Park in Clute, Texas.

John William Hopkins was born on July 28, 1929 in Corsicana. He married the love of his life Bobbie Hopkins and enjoyed 67 years of wedded bliss until her passing. During their time together they enjoyed fishing, golfing, going to flea markets and camping with family and church groups. John attended First Baptist Church of Somerville, where he was a deacon, for 30 years. John was a very giving man to all he knew and he will be dearly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Lee Hopkins and Tempe Odell Spence; wife, Bobbie Imagene Hopkins and daughter, Jeanne Hopkins Sims.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory son, William David Hopkins and wife Pat; grandchildren, John David Hopkins and wife April, William Bryan Hopkins and wife Melissa, Tracey Sims; great-grandchildren, Meagan Hopkins, Drake Hopkins, Amy Robison and Samantha Robison.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Brenham Nursing and Rehab, Bill Williamson and Kim Lewis for their excellent care of John.
