Joan Albrecht

Joan Lois Chmelar Albrecht, 74, of Goliad, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 26, 2018 at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Strickland Funeral Home, 530 Hwy. 36 South, Caldwell, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 1, at St Mary’s Catholic Church, 500 OSR, Caldwell, Texas, with Father Bernard Hung as celebrant. Graveside services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 2, at Glendale Cemetery, E. Ward St/N. Fort St, Goliad, Texas with the Very Reverend Charles Otsiwah of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Goliad as celebrant. We will gather for lunch afterwards at the Agave Jalisco Restaurant, 116 W. Pearl St, Goliad.

She was born November 14, 1943, the daughter of Agnes and Emanuel Chmelar of Caldwell, Texas. She was a Catholic and a rancher and had a strong love for her family and animals.

She is survived by her husband, Fred Wayne Albrecht; son and daughter-in-law, Alan Albrecht and Michelle Wood of Granite Bay, California; granddaughter and her husband, Katherine Albrecht and Jesse Weinstein of Seattle, Washington; sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Dale Shaw of Caldwell; brother and sister-in-law, Jamie and Sherri Chmelar of Caldwell; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her son, David Albrecht; her parents; and her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Vicki Chmelar.

Honorary Pallbearers are Katherine Albrecht, Boelden Chmelar, Todd James Chmelar, Amanda McAnulty, Scott Shaw, and Natalie Zgabay.
