James Turner

James Patrick “Jim” Turner, 86, of Somerville, Texas was born March 6, 1930, in Kansas City, Missouri, and died peacefully at home on Sunday, February 26, 2017 .

There will be a rosary at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Sunday, March 5, at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church on Monday, March 6 at 10 a.m. with celebrant Father Stephen Nesrsta. Interment will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Frenstat following the Mass.

Jim served his country one year during the Korean War in the Railroad Battalion. He began working for Santa Fe Railroad, was apprenticed as a machinist and, after 38 years, retired from a supervisory position at the Somerville Tie Plant. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dolores Fabrizio Turner, two sons: Michael Turner and wife Linda, and Joseph Turner and wife Cheryl; six grandsons: Alan Turner and wife Myriah, Jonathon Turner, Brian Turner, Joseph Turner, Daniel Turner, and Jared Campbell and wife Ashley; four granddaughters: Barbara McCormick and husband Scott, Diana Perry and husband Lin, Krystal Allen and husband Justin, and Erica Farmer and husband Kenneth; and 16 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Lillian (Kincaid) Turner, and son James D. Turner.

The family would like to express our sincere thanks to the nurses, aides and staff of Texas Home Health and Hospice for the great care they provided to Jim over the past months.

A heartfelt thank you to Peachie Burlin for her friendship, love, support and guidance through this time. She was and continues to be our anchor in the storm.

Also thank you to Charles Welch for his friendship and for always being there to help.

Jim loved his wife and family with his whole heart and gave unselfishly his time, attention and support to each of them. His family was his pride and joy.
