Hattie Ables

Funeral services for Hattie Mae (Green) Ables, 85, of Sugarland, Texas are set for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell, Texas with Bro. Rick Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, January 11, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Mrs. Ables passed from this world on January 8, 2019 in Sugarland, Texas.

Hattie was born June 25, 1933 in Kenedy, Texas to John Robert Green and Christine Otillia (Gulley) Green. She loved gardening, traveling, hunting, fishing, and pursued those interests from South Texas to Alaska and everywhere between. She was a loving wife, a nurturing mother, a faithful friend, an unwavering believer, an accomplished quilter, and an unbelievable cook. All who knew her will miss her deeply.

Hattie was preceded in death by her parents; John & Christine Green, Bessie Lee Green, and John Robert Green, Jr.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, James T. Ables; sons and daughter-in-law, Bradford Alan Ables of Caldwell, Texas, Grady Lee & Tami Lynn Ables of Houston, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Jamie Sue & Donald Ray Marshall of Missouri City, Texas; sisters, Wilma Rae Regmund of Kenedy, Texas and Alva June (Green) Stuard of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Margaret Anne Joachim, Taylor Leigh Allen, James Caswell Ables, Sean Bradlee Marshall; and great granddaughter, Mackenzie Kate Joachim.

Pallbearers will be Brad Ables, Grady Ables, Don Marshall, Chris Joachim, Sean Marshall, and James Ables. Jeff Garbes will serve as honorary pallbearer.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the MD Anderson Cancer Center.
