Fred Jay Gately III
February 1, 1982 – September 2, 2026
Fred Jay Gately III, 44, of Somerville, Texas, gained his angel wings on September 2, 2026, in Somerville, Texas
Born on February 1, 1982, in Houston, Texas, to Fred Jay Gately Jr. and Sandra Joy Spinks. Jay was one of a kind, and his presence could light up a room. His laugh was infectious, and he had a free-spirited nature about him. Jay had a way of making everyone around him feel welcome and he never met a stranger. A devoted husband and loving father. He was the foundation of his family and a friend who gave so much of himself to the people he loved.
Jay's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment were his boys. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Antoinette, and his two sons, Fred Jaymeson and Dalton Jay, who were the center of his world; they will carry his love with them forever
His favorite place was the kitchen or manning the grill, and he took great pleasure in cooking masterful meals for family and friends. He enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, singing karaoke, picking guitar, and traveling, all with music as life’s soundtrack. But more than any hobby, he loved sharing a good laugh and knew how to turn ordinary moments into memories. He lived life to the fullest and brought people together.
To know Jay was to love him. He was dependable, supportive, hardworking, and fiercely devoted. He gave freely, loved deeply, and brought joy to every gathering. He was the life of the party and, at heart, a family man whose greatest happiness came from having his loved ones close.
Jay leaves behind more than memories. He leaves the laughter he shared, the love he gave, the stories he told, and the countless lives he touched simply by being himself. His absence will be deeply felt, but his love will remain woven into the lives of his wife, children, family, and friends forever.
Jay was preceded in death by his father, Fred Gately Jr., and his grandparents, Fred Gately Sr., Lucy Louise Gately, Joyce Elaine Goller, Lamar Ralph Cahn, and Patsy Sue Cahn.
He is survived by his wife, Antoinette; his sons, Fred Jaymeson and Dalton Jay; his mother, Sandra Spinks; his stepfather, Stacy Spinks; and beloved nieces, nephews, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family who loved him dearly.
Serving as Pallbearers will be, James Daniell, Xavier Nunez, Jackie Archer, Jonathan Arredondo, Miguel Bernal, Randy Crabb, Ryan Rucker, Wayland Mock.
Honorary pallbearers are Fred Jaymeson Gately, Dalton Jay Gately, Alex Trejo, Warren Nunez, Wyatt Nunez, Lucas (Bubs) Soliz, Noe Hernandez, Roel Trejo, Adam Conner.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be given directly to the family.
His light will burn eternally
