A Mass of Christian Burial for Emily Marie (Schubert) Nix, 75, of Bryan is set for 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 8, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell, with Fr. Melvin Dornak officiating. Interment will follow at Masonic Cemetery in Caldwell. Mrs. Nix passed away on August 3, 2019 in Bryan, Texas.

Emily was born November 15, 1943 to Harman Schubert and Mealy (Uhlig) Schubert in the Frenstat Community of Burleson County, Texas.

She was baptized and Confirmed at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Frenstat. She graduated from Somerville High School in May 1962 and then Hermann Hospital School of Nursing in August 1963. She received her LVN license in October 1963.

Emily married James Robert Nix on May 2, 1964 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Frenstat. Their daughter Kimberly Ann was born on August 23, 1972.

She worked at Goodnight Memorial Hospital in Caldwell from May 1964 to May 1983. In August 1983 she began working at Caldwell Elementary School as the school nurse. She remained there until her retirement in June 2013.

Emily enjoyed reading, traveling, dancing and taking walks.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, and a sister-in-law.

Emily is survived by her husband, James Nix; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly & Josh Fox; granddaughter, Lauren Ashley Fox (who was the light of her life); and numerous cousins, a nephew and his wife, three great nephews and one great niece.

The family requests that Memorial donations be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the American Cancer Society.
