Edmund George Sebesta Jr., 81, of Snook, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026. He was born on January 29, 1945, in Bryan, Texas, to Edmund George Sebesta Sr. and Angelina Quitta Sebesta.

Affectionately known as Daddy, Papa, Unc, or Sonny to his family, Edmund lived a life grounded in faith, family, farming, and service. He was a lifelong resident of Snook and graduated from Snook High School in 1963. He married his high school sweetheart, Lenora Ann Valenta, on June 12, 1965. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised their family in the community they loved.

Farming was more than Edmund’s vocation; it was his passion and his hobby. He loved working the land and was especially fond of his red tractors, particularly Farmalls and Case IH tractors. He enjoyed attending antique tractor shows, watching RFD-TV, and talking about farming with anyone who shared his enthusiasm. Cotton, wheat, and milo were more than crops to him; they were a way of life.

Edmund loved the Lord and served Him faithfully throughout his life. He was a lifelong member of the Snook Brethren Church, where he served on the Board of Elders, taught Sunday School, and served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He was baptized and confirmed in the Snook Brethren Church. His faith was evident not only through his service to the church, but also in the way he lived each day. He leaves behind a strong legacy of faith that will continue through his family and all those whose lives he touched.

His life was also marked by a deep commitment to serving his community. Edmund was a founding member of the Snook Lions Club and the Snook Volunteer Fire Department. He served on the Board of Directors for the First Bank of Snook, the Snook City Council, President of the Snook Cemetery Association , a Director of Farm Bureau, and on the Burleson County Appraisal Board. He also helped organize and ran the antique tractor shows for Snook Fest and the Kolache Festival for many years, combining his love of tractors with his love for his community.

Above all else, Edmund loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. He was kind, funny, hardworking, and almost always had a smile on his face. Nothing brought him greater joy than being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His face lit up every time he saw them, whether they were standing beside him or appearing on a video call. His family knew without a doubt how deeply they were loved. He enjoyed going on cruises with his wife and regular trips to the beach, but never too long. His crops needed him.

Edmund was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund George Sebesta Sr. and Angelina Quitta Sebesta.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Lenora Ann Valenta Sebesta; his children, Angela Renee Sebesta Hairrell and her husband, Bradley William Hairrell; Jason Edmund Sebesta and his wife, Lisa Brown Sebesta; and Nathan Allen Sebesta and his wife, Rylie Blyss Qualls Sebesta; his grandchildren, Cullen William Hairrell and his wife Mary Beth Green Hairrell, Tyler Jason Sebesta, Deanna Nicole Hairrell Pineiro and her husband Christian Isaiah Pineiro, Ava Blyss Sebesta, and Nora Lynn Sebesta; his great-grandchildren, Liam William Hairrell and Amelia Ann Pineiro; his sisters, Margie Sebesta Bailey and Shirley Sebesta Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edmund leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured simply by the work of his hands, the crops he raised, or the many ways he served his community. His greatest legacy is the faith he lived, the family he loved, and the example of hard work, kindness, and service he gave to those around him. His life was a gift to all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the family and community he loved so well.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
