Carolyn Beatrice Telg, 79, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 18, 2025, at CHI St. Joseph Regional Health Care Center in Bryan.
Carolyn was born on Sept. 22, 1945. William A. and Ethel Viola Brimberry of Bryan adopted her 10 days after she was born at Bryan Hospital.
She was a lifelong resident of Brazos and Burleson counties. Although her family lived in Bryan, she, her parents and sister, Marolyn, would spend weekends at the Hix community near Caldwell, enjoying time with friends and extended family and attending Macedonia-Hix Baptist Church. She began playing piano for the church at the age of 12 and has been the church’s pianist ever since, rarely missing a Sunday service over a span of 67 years. It was during these weekends in Hix that Carolyn met Donnie Telg. They fell in love and were married on June 14, 1963.
Carolyn graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan and received an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Blinn College.
Carolyn was a homemaker in Bryan while her three children, Ricky, Denise and Keith, were young. Soon after Donnie and Carolyn moved to the Hix community in 1981, she became the office administrator at Bud Cross Ford.
Later, she became the administrative assistant for then-district attorney Charles Sebesta. After Sebesta retired, she then was hired in a similar position with the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office, where she served for more than 15 years.
Carolyn was a proponent for a strong public school system. She was elected to the Caldwell Independent School District’s school board and served as a board member for nine years, also serving as board president.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Donnie Telg; children, Ricky Telg and Denise Squier; sister, Marolyn Catrone and her husband, Jerry; two daughters-in-law, Jodie Telg and Michelle Moore; one son-in-love, Tim Moore; five grandchildren, Brandon Telg, Elizabeth Lopez, Kevin Telg, Jonathan Squier and Kyle Telg; and five great-grandchildren, Elise Telg, Johan Telg, Olive Lopez, Felix Lopez and Nico Lopez; along with numerous other relatives and church family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Keith Telg.
Pallbearers are Kyle Telg, Jonathan Squier, Mark Telg, Tram Telg, Andrew Telg and Daniel Telg. Honorary pallbearer is Kevin Telg.
Visitation was at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell on Wednesday, May 21, from 5-7 p.m. The funeral service will be at Strickland Funeral Home on Thursday, May 22, starting at 10 a.m. A graveside service will follow at the Hix Cemetery.
