Betty Valenta

February 8, 1920 — April 17, 2017

Betty was born February 8, 1920, to Joseph Gavenda and Julia (Beran) Gavenda in Buckholtz, Texas.

Betty was a member of Cooks Point Brethren Church and Temple Brethren Church. She loved going to dances with Willie Joe at the Seaton SPJST Hall in Temple, flower and vegetable gardens, making chicken and dumplings, homemade bread and kolaches for the family. Betty and Willie Joe would take the kids to Snook, Deanville, Dime Box, and New Tabor Halls. While they watched the kid’s dance the adults would visit. She also enjoyed traveling to Corpus Christi to visit her sister and swim at Padre Island. She loved spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids, watching soap operas, listening to Czech music and looking at family albums. She was a homemaker and nurturer of her family for over 70 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willie Valenta, Sr.; son, Willie Joe Valenta, Jr.; sisters, Annie Horcica, Marie Landwehr; grandson, Bruce Valenta, brother, Joseph Gavenda, Jr.; and step-sister, Albina Kazmir.

Betty is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry Donald & Sharon Valenta of Allen, Texas, James Henry & Gloria Valenta of Navasota, Texas, David Ray Valenta of Caddo Mills, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Mildred Betty & Charles Davidson of Quitman, Texas, Glenda Marie Fowler of Caldwell, Texas, Carolyn Jean & Edward Vajdak of Snook, Texas; grandchildren, Vernon, David, and Chad Davidson, Charlotte Strong, Tonya Ihlenfeldt, Bryan Valenta, Daniel Fowler, Bradley Vajdak, Shayna Kindt, Nicole Godwin, Sandra Hall, Heather Valenta, and Amanda Valenta.

Pallbearers will be Bradley Vajdak, Daniel Fowler, Chad Davidson, Vernon Davidson, David Davidson, and Bryan Valenta.
