Services for David Ray “Nasty” Massey, 62, of Cooks Point are set for 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 20, 2018 at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Caldwell with Bro. Bill Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Providence Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post #4458. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, August 19, 2018 also at the funeral home. Mr. Massey passed away on August 16, 2018 at his home in Cooks Point.

David was born March 27, 1956 to Albert William Massey, Jr. and Billie Jean (Corley) Massey in Bryan, Texas. He married Sherri Englemann on November 21, 1992 in Cooks Point, Texas.

David enjoyed motor scooters and fishing in Matagorda. His favorite expression was “Let’s Get Deep.” He loved deer hunting and was an outdoor enthusiast. He liked to spend time in his garden cultivating tomatoes, sweet corn, and peppers. David loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. He loved his son Jonathan and especially his fur baby Apollo. David and Sherri were the caretakers of the Providence Cemetery for nearly 23 years.

David was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Edward “Pete” Englemann.

He is survived by his wife Sherri Massey of Cooks Point, parents, Albert & Billie Jean Massey of Caldwell; mother-in-law, Adele Englemann of Caldwell; sons and daughter-in-law, Jonathan Massey and girlfriend, Amanda Villanueva of Cooks Point, David Shane & Mary Massey and family of Kansas City, Missouri; sister and brother-in-law, Jeannie & Kenneth Englemann of Bryan; sisters-in-law, Becky Englemann and Jeanette Reed both of Bryan; niece, Victoria & Tony Ruiz of College Station; nephew, Adam Englemann and girlfriend Tricia Mushinski; great nephews, Charlie and Jack Ruiz ; and great niece, Alexandra Ruiz.

Pallbearers will be Wendel Dobbs, Bud Wilkerson, Dennis Asher, Larry Hejl, Mike Button and Kevin Wyatt. Russ Welch and Scott Dean will act as honorary pallbearers.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Providence Cemetery Association.

The family would like to thank Dr. Grace Joseph and the oncology team at Baylor Scott & White as well as the folks at Encompass Home Health for their care of David over the last two years.
